Daniel
Kohn
- Painter
Lives on
Montgomery Street (formerly left field at Ebbets Field)
|
|
|
|
Biographical Notes
Born in 1964 in Ahmedabad, India to French
and American parents, Daniel Kohn was raised in France. When he moved
from Paris to New York in 1996, he was working on a series of interiors
of a house in the center of France (called Changy), which sought to
document the relation between art and the places of its making.
Following his 1998 participation in World Views, a residency in the
World Trade Center, Kohn's focus shifted to abstracted landscapes that
seek to explore the viewer's sense of pace. He has participated in
numerous personal and collective exhibitions in the United States,
Europe and Latin America. Additionally, he has an extensive list of
site-specific works, including public and private commissions and
partnerships with dance, music and theater organizations. Notable among
these installations are Seen
From Above, Commissioned by the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority of New York City and installed in Grand Central Terminal in
September 2002, and the private commission, Looking
South, for Fiduciary Trust Company International, a 4 story painting
of the view looking south from the World Trade Center.
Editor's note: He's also a wonderful person with a great family
and a beautiful home. Daniel is also a leader in NYC's anti-war
movement.

Lives on Flatbush
Avenue in Patio Gardens |

Wes is a fairly recent
addition to PLG. He and his girlfriend Sandra moved from Queens along
with 2 very large felines named Donatello and Leonardo. We love his work
and he's a very nice and mellow guy (he never once brandished a large
weapon). We haven't met his girlfriend Sandra but we're sure she's great
(Wes says she likes PlanetPLG which says it all). Learn more about Wes
and his work on our portrait
page or on his website. |

Shevon
Gant
- Ceramic Artist and Designer
Lives on Lefferts
Avenue
|
|

|
|
Bio
Brooklyn based ceramic artist and designer Shevon Gant studied sculpture
at S.U.N.Y Purchase College and earned her B.F.A. in 2002. Shevon
develops and mixes her own glazes. All work is fired twice in her
electric kiln.
Artist Statement (see full
statement on Shevon's website)
"It's so important to recognizing the beauty in every day life. We
live in a world where it's so easy to get sucked into the negative. My
focus is not just what's seen on the surface but the unseen. Everyone is
a unique and special creation and I approach my work with that same mind
set, giving each piece spontaneous variations. The process and
connection between the use of the raw materials: earth, water and fire
alone is symbolic and parallels life experience. The ceramic process
continues to keep me humble and teachable. When I'm not working in the
studio I enjoy cooking, live music and friends."

Robin
Cloud
- Actor, Comedian, Writer, Activist
(Rosie on the left, Robin
on the right) |
 |
|
ROBIN CLOUD moved to New
York City after getting her BS in film studies from Howard University to
attend Columbia University's Graduate School for Architecture -- alas
she grabbed the mic and hasn't let go since. She has been seen spewing
her inner most thoughts, passions, and comedic observations to the
masses at Caroline's, The Duplex, New York Comedy Club, and The Peoples
Improv Theatre; at times in the form of characters Jerri Beige, Angela
Davison and JD West. Robin is one of the founding members of the sketch
group Connecticrack and is currently studying acting with Larry Singer
at the Michael Howard Studios. Robin’s one woman show turned feature
length screenplay, Tales from the Big House, is a comical coming of age
story about a young African American woman who gallantly claims her
lesbian identity at the age of 16 only to find that being a lesbian is
only half the battle. When not entertaining the masses with comedy,
Robin is avid painter and singer/songwriter. |
