Prospect
Park Selects Architect For Center
Lakeside Center will feature two rinks and a cafe
The Planet has learned that Prospect Park Alliance has chosen
an architect for the new $35+ million dollar Lakeside Center slated for
construction in 2009. Although the name will not be released until
September, we are told that the architect, who was described as
"internationally renowned", is based in NYC but has only
designed one project to date in the city.
Prospect Park is in good hands
We've said it before - Prospect Park Alliance President Tupper Thomas is
a force of nature. We recently took a walk with her and several members
of the Ocean by the Park Block Association through parts of the eastern
side of the park. Not only does she know the history of every brick,
slab and electrical installation in the park, she can also identify and
describe in detail every plant, tree and weed. Truly amazing. Her love
for the park she oversees is palpable. We were initially worried about
the prospect (sorry) of a big new building going up in the park, but
having heard the PPA's vision for the project from Tupper we feel, at
least for the moment, reassured. More to come on this meeting with
Tupper, and the future of Prospect Park.
