A Talk with Jim Mamary
About his New PLG Restaurant
The Planet is told
to expect something similar, but not identical to,

Interior of Pacifico

We finally had a chance to speak with Jim Mamary, owner/co-owner of a vast portfolio of restaurants in Brooklyn and
the man behind the soon-to-open Mexican restaurant at 51 Lincoln Road. We liked what he had to say; the restaurant, which he expects will debut towards the end of September, will be very similar in vibe and menu choices to his successful Smith Street eatery "Pacifico". |
Mamary's restuarants are known for their warm and inviting atmospheres and it sounds like the PLG restaurant will be no exception; his plans include comissioning a mural, installing a fireplace and recessing the front of the restaurant to allow for outdoor eating on the premises (he plans to eventually apply for a cafe permit to allow tables to be set-up on the city's portion of the sidewalk).
Mamary describes the restaurant as "family friendly" and plans to serve lunch, dinner and eventually brunch (although right out of the gate they may only serve dinner). Likewise home delivery, which is definitely part of the plan, may take a bit to get rolling.
The restuarant will feature a full bar -- which will not just be a peripheral part of the restuarant; Mamary is hoping to nurture a solid bar-business at the location. To those who have asked if they will finally be able to go out in the neighborhood to watch a game while nursing a beer the answer is... maybe. When we mentioned that there is an interest in this he said he is currently leaning towards having a TV at the bar but hasn't yet finalized the plan.
Mamary has applied for all of the required permits and is just waiting for the green light to start work. We will be checking in with him again as we get closer to the opening. |

Burritos for PLG?
We've heard that a local real
estate agent has shown an available space in the northern half of the
neighborhood to a group looking to open a burrito joint. They have seen
one space two times now... By no means a done deal, if it happens all we
can say is "bienvenidos!" (which is literally, about all we can
say...). |
